Normandy

I spent the weekend in Normandy--- staying in the town of Bayeux and exploring the surrounding towns and beaches. We lucked out with some nice weather-- blue skies and no rain!

 Gold Beach
Remnants of the Mulberry harbor still in the water and on the shore. You can walk up to it when the tide is out. (a portable temporary harbour developed by the British to facilitate rapid offloading of cargo onto the beaches during the invasion... thanks wikipedia!)
I couldn't see the screen when taking these pictures because of the sun so excuse my thumb!
 Arromanches les Bains

 American cemetary
 American memorial

 Omaha Beach
the Cathedeal in Bayeux! We also went to a nice museum about the Bayeux tapestry-- a very long tapestry detailing the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Pretty impressive.
